Our sponsors in the spotlight: Challenge for Cambodia
« Together for Cambodia: Challenge pour le Cambodge's commitment to Enfants de Klang Leu »
As part of our series highlighting the invaluable partners who have supported our NGO Enfants de Klang Leu over the years, we are honoured to highlight the association Challenge pour le Cambodge and its President, Marc Michaut, who has been with us for over a decade.
The origins and mission of Challenge pour le Cambodge date back to 1994, when Gilbert Méhat founded the organisation with the initial aim of working with Cambodian villagers to clear land of mines and build schools, thereby giving children in the region access to education. In 1996, Marc Michaut met Gilbert Méhat and a fruitful collaboration began. Over the years, Mr Michaut and his companions have travelled to Cambodia many times to help people discover a country rich in history and culture, but also scarred by two decades of conflict. Seeing the poverty and misery in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, where the ravages of war are still visible, they decided to take action. In 2004, Marc Michaut took the helm of Challenge pour le Cambodge.
The meeting between Challenge pour le Cambodge and Enfants de Klang Leu dates back to the beginning of the latter's project in 2006. Touched by the actions carried out for the children of the underprivileged district of Klang Leu in Sihanoukville, Marc Michaut and his team quickly decided to support various projects such as the diversification of the food supply, the extension of medical care and the construction of houses. For more than a decade, Challenge pour le Cambodge has helped Enfants de Klang Leu implement and sustain its projects, making a real difference to the lives of the children at the centre.
Today, the committee of Challenge pour le Cambodge is looking for new members and supporters, especially younger ones, to breathe new life into this association that has worked so hard for over two decades for the benefit of local actors such as Enfants de Klang Leu.
If you would like to join this noble cause, you can find more information on theassociation's website: http://challenge-cambodge.fr
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Challenge pour le Cambodge, its president Marc Michaut, and its members and supporters for their trust and unwavering moral and financial support.
Together we are helping to give disadvantaged children in Cambodia a better future.
